Sedlescombe lies off the A21 about 5 miles north of Hastings. It is a picturesque village with a sloping village green and half-timbered houses some of which date back as far as the 15th century. Both the village and church are recorded in the Domesday Book.
The Brickwall Hotel stands proud, overlooking the village green. Originally built in 1597 for the local ironmaster, the hotel combines a touch of Tudor times with all the amenities expected by modern standards.
There's an oak-panelled bar furnished with knock-you-back, ruby-red velvet armchairs and an ebullient, bespectacled man with a Groucho Marx moustache. Through to the restaurant - and if it's atmosphere one's after, this is it. Again, it's all red carpet and red chairs, with a low-beamed ceiling, ancient walk-in fireplace decorated with horse brasses, and Italian waiters buzzing around.
Particular attention is paid to the quality and variety of food served in the dining room, with local produce used whenever possible.
Aperitifs of your choice will be served.
