The Great House restaurant / gastropub in Hawkhurst recently bagged Pub of the Year (Kent and Sussex) and no wonder. The Great House is an enchanting 16th Century Freehouse full of character and boasting a wealth of history being used as a haunt for the Hawkhurst smugglers during the 17th Century.
The own ers are determined to present fresh, local ingredients of the highest quality, with dishes like Wild Mushroom & Cepes Cream Fine Tart; Seared Sea Scallops Pan Fried With Garlic; Veal Fillet, Girolles Mushrooms, Confits Shallots; Confit Legs Of Duck, Sweet Potatoes, Puy Lentil; Pan-fried Guinea Fowl On Mushroom Risotto.
